 Lower back pain is one of the most common pains in the world. Almost everyone would have experience back pain at some point in their lives, possibly because most of us spend large amounts of our day sitting at home or at work.


The lower back supports most of the body weight. When we are in a sitting position, our lower back structure needs to support most of our body weight and that creates lots of pressure on the lower back.


Over time our lower back structure will start to show signs of fatigue, muscle spasm, degeneration and joint subluxation. It will lead to lower back disorder. People ages 30 to 50 tend to be more likely to suffer from lower back pain.


Common Causes of Lower Back Pain

1.  Muscle or Ligament Strains

Muscle tear and sprained ligament could be one of the reasons of sudden lower back pain. Lifting any heavy objects, twisting or a sudden movement can cause muscle or ligament stretch or tear.


2.  Pregnancy

The extra body weight during pregnancy can also cause lower back pain. Pregnancy causes changes in muscle and ligament firmness, which can also cause lower back pain. The baby’s head can compress the mother’s spinal nerves that lead to lower back pain.


3.  Overweight

Lower back is one of the vulnerable regions of the spine that is affected by obesity. During rest and activity, the spine is designed to distribute the loads encountered and also carry the body’s weight. The spine is forced to assimilate burden when excess weight is carried, which may lead to structural compromise and damage to the lower back. An overweight person is also more prone to lower back pain due to poorer posture.


4.  Ageing

As a person age, stress on the spine from a poor workplace working arrangements, bad posture and wrong sleeping habits can cause lower back pain.

What does a chiropractor do?

How do I know if I have a subluxation?
The most common reasons why people visit our Spinecare chiropractors initially is for back pain, neck pain and headaches.
